Pregame December 22

Pregame Rungsted 22 December
We finished the first half of the season on a positive note having earned points in our last 5 games. The Christmas Break has been used to work on our individual skills as much as a team play since we have been missing many players for the training sessions as we have had injuries, scheduling conflicts within OIK amateur teams, and commitments with the National team at various age levels. Overall it has been a great use of time to focus on some critical areas of the game, and for some players with lingering injuries to heal.
Start of Second Half of Season
It is an important game for us to pick up where we left off in the first half of the season. Obviously playing Rungsted is great opportunity to climb up the League Standings as they sit directly above us. Rungsted has been playing very well as of late having won their last 3 games. We have seen in the past games Rungsted is an opportunistic team, who are patient as they wait to capitalize off the mistakes of their opposition. It will be important that we focus on our passing, and make great decisions through the middle zone of the ice. In addition, their Power Play has been successful the past 3 games having scored goals on the Power play in each of these games that they have won. It will be important for our team to not take any unnecessary penalties, and give them extra opportunities in this regard. The last game their goalie played he had a successful game stopping 46 of 49 shots in a Shoot Out victory over Aalborg. We will need to have a presence around the goal to make sure he has a difficult time to see the shots and control the rebounds. There are some factors that could influence the start of the game; Important game in standings; 10 Day Break from Games; Nationally Televised Game. It will be important to have a smart, first ten minutes to the game with this in mind. When we have a good start it creates the atmosphere to play a solid 60 minutes, which is a focus point for our team.
Rungsted Key Players:
Poulsen: leading scorer with 13 goals – skates with speed and works hard at the net
Sabroe: good around the net and having a great season with 9 goals
Degn: dangerous & patient player on the Power Play
Injuries & Opportunities
We have a number of players who are injured at this time, and we will have several young players fresh from their return of the National Team at various age levels participate with the club for the game against Rungsted. It will be great to get them a close up look at the speed of the game, and strength of the players at this level. In addition Mathias Holmlund will be in the lineup.
